This guide will show you exactly how to get value early, avoid friction, and build trust directly into your customer experience.

Your trial includes full access to the platform’s core capabilities. That means you can:

Setup Essentials: Your First Few Steps

You don’t need a developer to get going. Token of Trust is built for quick setup — whether you’re on Shopify, WooCommerce, WordPress, or BigCommerce.

Here’s how most teams get live in minutes:

  1. Create your account
     Sign up for a free trial — no credit card required. You’ll land in your Token of Trust HQ dashboard.
  2.  Connect your store or platform
  • Shopify: Install the Token of Trust app from the Shopify App Store and follow the guided setup.
  • WooCommerce / WordPress: Download the Token of Trust plugin and activate it from your admin panel.
  • BigCommerce: Follow the guided integration flow directly from your dashboard.
  1. Customize your verification flow
    Add your logo and brand colors for a seamless customer experience. Control the language, prompts, and styling.
  2. Localize your experience
    Built-in support for English, Spanish, and French. Set a default or allow dynamic switching based on the user.
  3. Test your first verification
    Upload a real or test document (passport, driver’s license, national ID) to see how the verification logic responds in real-time.
  4. Configure your first live flow
    Use pre-configured defaults or adjust settings based on your compliance needs — such as age gates, ID types, or location requirements.

Platform-Specific Features

Depending on your platform, Token of Trust offers additional tools to streamline verification:

  • WordPress/WooCommerce:
    You can protect specific pages until a visitor completes verification. This is useful for restricting access to age-gated content or compliance-sensitive areas. To enable it, just check the “Require Verification” option when editing a page or post.
  • Shopify:
    Age-gating your storefront is supported directly through the Token of Trust app. You can set a required verification age (e.g., 18, 21) and customize the messaging shown to unverified visitors.

Privacy & Trust Built In

Token of Trust is designed to meet strict data protection standards from the ground up — including full alignment with GDPR and other regional privacy laws.

Key privacy and compliance features include:

  • Privacy by Design:
    Verification flows are built to minimize unnecessary data retention. Personally identifiable information (PII) is either discarded, anonymized, or redacted based on the verification outcome and retention policy.
  • Custom Data Retention Settings:
     Default retention windows range from 90 days to 1 year. Admins can adjust these settings based on business needs, provided there is a valid legal basis for extended storage.
  • Explicit Consent Handling:
    End-users must explicitly consent before any personal data is collected or used. Consent requests are built into both UI-based and API-based flows, with clear language and version tracking for auditability.
  • Data Access & Transparency:
    All verified users can request access to their stored data, or request its deletion, in line with GDPR and CCPA rights.
